Holiday Bingo for Books
Play bingo to win fiction and non-fiction books by popular authors (including several Christmas titles) and other prizes. This bingo event is for adults only. (A family bingo event will be held on another date.) Refreshments will be provided. Tue, Dec 15th, 6-7:30pm.

Planned Power Outage - Again
[closed] The library will be without electrical power again for much of the day on Monday, January 18th. Due to the outage, we will be closed on the day of the outage. Thanks for your patience, bearing with us through this. As usual, any items returned in the book drop while we are closed will count as having come back the previous evening.
Early Closing, New Year's Eve
The library will be closing at 5pm on Thursday, December 31st. We will return to regular hours starting on Saturday, January 2nd.

Movie Showing
Join us to watch a children's horror movie on our big screen. All ages are invited, but children under eight must be accompanied by an adult. Call or stop by the library to sign up and reserve your seat. Fri, Feb 12th at 2pm.

Spring Make-It Take-It Craft
Come in any time during library hours for spring crafts that you can make and take home. You do not need to register for this, just come. Ask at the children's desk for more information.
Meet the Therapy Dog
Children and families are invited to meet Gracie, a TDI-certified therapy dog. Gracie will be accompanied by her owner, Marcia Yunker, who will be available to answer questions. Please join us if you would like to read with Gracie, have an interest in therapy dogs, or simply want to meet our lovable canine friend. This is a drop-in program: you do not need to register, just stop by. Thu, Feb 11th, 4-5pm.
Fancy Nancy Tea Party
Join us for our ever-popular annual tea party. We'll read fancy stories, make fancy crafts, and end the afternoon with a fancy parade and, of course, a fabulously fancy tea party. I Survived: Grades 3-6

Teen Board Meeting
5:30pm on the third Thursday each month. The teen board will meet to discuss teen matters and plan future events.
Friends of the Library Used Book Sale
The Friends will be holding their spring used book sale. All sales are by donation. Thu, May 12th, 9-8pm, Fri, May 13th at 9am, and Sat, May 14th at 9am.
Closed for Power Outage

Build a Kite
Not sure what to do with your extra days off? Drop in to our Makerspace and build a kite. Supplies will be made available in the Children's Room, but all ages are welcome to participate. There is no need to register for this program: you can just drop in any time all day. Mon, Mar 21st, 9-8pm, Tue, Mar 22nd, 9-8pm, and Wed, Mar 23rd, 9-8pm.
Electronics Open House
Interested in how electronics work? Want to try some great hands-on projects? Students in grades K-12 and their parents are invited to try out the following educational toys: You do not need to register for this program. You can just drop by. Thu, Mar 24th, 3-5pm.
Bingo

Closed Until 1pm for System Upgrade
Our main software vendor will be performing an upgrade to our library circulation and catalog software on Thursday, March 17th. Our system will be offline for most or all of the morning, and we will be closed until 1pm. Among other things, the new version will allow us to send out email notifications more promptly, when your items come in on hold. Thanks for bearing with us through this inconvenience. As always, items returned in the book drop while we are closed will count as having come in the night before.
Bingo for Books

Coffee and Coloring Night (offsite)
The library will be hosting an Adult Coffee and Coloring Night at The Candi Bar. Adult coloring pages and colored pencils will be provided. Patrons can feel free to bring their own coloring books and supplies, as well. Refreshments will be provided. Drinks will be available for purchase from the cafe. On Your Mark, Get Set, ... Read!
Summer Reading starts June 1st.
Children ages 0-12 can register starting June 1st and pick up a reading log. Use the reading calendar to mark any day that you read at least ten minutes. (Beginning readers and pre-readers may count days in which books are read to them.)
After you have read for five days and marked them on your calendar, bring your reading log back to the library to receive a prize and get your log stamped.

Get in the Game: Summer Reading 2016
Summer reading starts June 1st. Read books, win prizes.
Here's how:
  • If you are finishing grades 6-12, you can participate in teen summer reading. You may only participate in one summer reading program. (Those finishing sixth grade may choose either the children's or the teen summer reading program, and graduates may choose either the teen or adult program.)
  • Register at the children's room desk to receive your bookmark, book bag, reading log, and book review forms.
  • After reading a book (or listening to an audiobook), fill out a review form and return it to the children's desk to enter the $10 gift card drawing of your choice.
  • Each time you submit a review, your reading log should be stamped. Review five books and receive a free book. Review ten books and choose between a second free book or a certificate worth $5 off library overdue fines.
  • If you review five books by June 30th, you will be entered into a drawing to win two tickets to King's Island. (Exceptions to the five-book minimum may be made for those who are actively reading longer books; please talk to the children's room staff.)
  • Attending a summer event or volunteering at a children's event will earn you a bonus ticket to enter into a weekly drawing of your choice.
  • No teen may win more than two of the weekly drawings.

For the Spell of It
So, you think you can spell? Prove it. The library will host an adult spelling bee. Ages 13 and up are welcome to participate. The bee will be played in teams. Thu, Jun 2nd at 5pm.

Preschool Storytime
Join us on Mondays at 6:30pm and Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30am. In addition to stories, these times also feature crafts, games, and other fun.
Anime Club
Join us for anime, manga, cosplay, and Japanese culture. Note that we are switching to Tuesdays starting in January. Teens in grades 6-12 do not need to register for the anime club: you can just show up.

Games Club
The chess club has become a games club. We will still have chess available, but we also now invite others to join in and play other board games and card games. Bring your own game or play one of ours. New members in grades 6-12 are invited to join at any time. Refreshments are provided. You do not need to register for the games club: you can just show up.

The library board meets at the library at 4pm on the third Monday of each month.
